Four people died on the spot and six other have sustained injuries when a jeep they were travelling in met with an accident at Gwalichaur of Bodyguard-5 in Baglung district on Monday.

The jeep (Dha 1 Ja 184) was en route to Kharwang from Jaljala in the district. Police said the identity of the deceased has not been ascertained yet. The deceased includes the jeep driver as well.

The injured ones are receiving treatment at Gwalichaur Health Post. SP Chandra Kuber Khapung said preparations are underway to ferry the injured passengers to Kathmandu via helicopter for treatment.

It is learnt the jeep plunged some 600 metres off the road. Police said the accident occurred while trying to keep the jeep in stationary position on a downslope section.

The incident site lies at the distance of five-hour of gravelly ride from Baglung Bazaar.
