Jackal attack victim dies in Capital

Basanta Kumar Yadav, 32, died at Bir Hospital while being treated for rabies, his relatives said.
Yadav was admitted to the hospital on Friday.
Nearly 50 people were injured after being bitten by jackals in Mohammadpur and adjoining areas in the first week of October.
Yadav’s sudden death has caused fear among the people who were also bitten by jackals.
Janardan Jha, health assistant of Mohammadpur Health Post, said the villagers are in a state of panic after learning about Yadav’s death. They are worried if they too are infected with rabies.
Meanwhile, health workers have been mobilised to Mohammadpur and adjoining areas to check if any of the jackal attack victims have rabies.
A medical team from Kathmandu is also expected to arrive on Monday.
