Police on Thursday arrested a man accused of being involved in the 2003 (October 3) killing of a family at Badhikhel-6 in Lalitpur.
The accused, identified as Chandra Bahadur Pahari, 68, was made public amid a press meet at Teku in Kathmandu on Thursday.
Police investigation revealed that Pahari, then 52-year-old, had hacked the entire family of Bhanu Nagarkoti, 36, to death. Bhanu’s wife Dhanakumari, 30, son Rabindra 13, daughters Ludhi, 10, and Pukuli, 8, were killed in the incident. Dhanakumari was Pahari’s sister.
It is learnt that Pahari had a brawl with Nagarkoti family five-six days before the mass murder. He had learnt from his nieces that his wife Bhunti, alias Surya Kumari, and his brother-in-law Bhanu were having an illicit affair.
Police investigation has shown that Pahari murdered his sister’s family to exact revenge.
He was excessively drunk before committing the crime.
Pahari was arrested from Jhaukhel in Changunarayan Municipality, Bhaktapur.
