In a press statement issued on Thursday, Pahadi said that he did not receive answers on certain matters from the organisation. He had raised the issue of why the organisation was silent on the death of Nanda Prasad Adhikari who died in course of a hunger strike demanding the murderers of his son Krishna Prasad be booked.
Pahadi had also stated that the well-wishers of Amnesty International were saddened by the organisation’s alleged backing of CK Raut, a controversial person who has time and again landed into troubles by advocating a secessionist campaign.
“I will not support any campaign of the Amnesty International and will not be a part of its programmes unless Amnesty International Secretariat accepts its mistake and apologises regarding the Adhikari and Raut’s issue,” said Pahadi in his statement.
The Nepal chapter of Amnesty International became a recognised body during Pahadi’s tenure as its chairman.
