Baidya rules out constitution with people’s right
CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya has said that his party’s decision to boycott the second Constituent Assembly (CA) elections is being justified by the current political situation.Ekantipur Report
Speaking during a press meet organised at Lalbandi in Sarlahi on Tuesday, Chairman Baidya said that a party inside the CA holding protest programmes justifies their decision, remarking his party’s decision, not take part in the elections as it could not promulgate a constitution that grants rights to the people.
“A big plot took place against the promulgation of constitution when there were over 60% transformative forces in the earlier CA,” he said, “At present there is a majority of status quoists. Promulgation of a constitution that would hand over the rights to the oppressed people is impossible. The current chain of events has proven that.”
Baidya is at Lalbandi to take part in the Central Committee meeting of Madhesi Rastriya Mukti Morcha Nepal (Krantikari). The meeting appointed Roshan Janakpuri as the Chairman and has decided to hold a national conference on May 9.
