Ekantipur Report
“The CA chair’s proposal to ensure the new constitution on time through fast track measure actually came with a good intention,” Bhattarai said, “We are now focused on how to bring the constitution within January 22.”
The UML secretary declared his party’s support to the draft to be prepared by CA Chair Nembang. “CPN-UML will support the draft prepared by Nembang, if political parties fails to forge consensus on time,” Bhattarai said.
He also dispelled the rumors that the UML Chairman KP Oli would be the Prime Minister after January 22 and the new constitution would be drafted by imposing curfew.
Likewise, UCPN (Maoist) leader Khim Lal Devkota claimed the CA chairman floated the proposal as part of a ‘grand design’.
Saying that a preliminary draft of the new constitution has already been prepared inside the dark chamber of CA chairman, the UCPN (Maoist) claimed that he has received secret information that the new constitution has already been prepared inside the dark chamber of CA chairman and preparations are being made to issue it forcefully by deploying army.
He also warned of possible clash inside and outside the CA because of conflicting ambitions among political leaders.
Alleging that the hurry to bring the new constitution on January 22 even by resorting to majority process is the manifestation of Oli’s excitement to become the Prime Minister and PM Sushil Koirala’s desire to become the president, the UCPN (Maoist) leader Devkota remarked that his party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and leader Baburam Bhattarai are strongly opposed to the idea.
Likewise, Sadvawana Party Co- Chairman Laxman Lal Karna asserted that the nation would plunge into another conflict if attempts are made to draft constitution forcefully.
He went on to warn that the constitution without federalism will divide the country and will give birth to many Laxman Lal Karnas in Madhes.
