Flood and landslide damage 53 houses and a school in Dolpa’s Riba village
Sudden midnight disaster causes over Rs18 million in losses; no human or livestock casualties reported.

At least 53 houses were damaged after a flood and landslide triggered by continuous rainfall struck Riba village in ward 4 of Kaike Rural Municipality of Dolpa district on Thursday night.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ruk Bahadur Khadka of the District Police Office, Dolpa, four houses were destroyed after mud hit the structures. Other houses sustained partial damage.
A four-room building of the Putha Basic School was also destroyed. The school’s computers, CCTV system, midday meal supplies and building structure suffered losses estimated at Rs2 million.
The damage assessment report prepared by the police states that the total loss amounts to around Rs18.4 million.
No casualties of people or livestock have been reported so far. The mud-laden flood also damaged crops planted in nearby fields, police added.
