With 1,963 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 617,947
The Health Ministry reports 44 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Friday reported 1,963 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 617,947.
Similarly, 805 people tested positive in a total of 5,468 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Friday, 3,255,579 PCR and 133,627 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 7,569 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 44 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 8,641. The number of active cases stands at 59,624.
According to the ministry, 549,682 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 4,020 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 508 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 394 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 60 in Lalitpur and 54 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 347 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 112 in Province 2, 765 in Bagmati, 546 in Gandaki, 104 in Lumbini, 57 in Karnali and 32 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 43 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 16 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Friday, 872 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 246—47 in Province 1, one in Province 2, 154 in Bagmati, 18 in Gandaki, 18 in Lumbini, two in Karnali and six in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported 1,768 new cases and 39 Covid-19 related deaths. Similarly, 2,014 new cases and 52 Covid-19 related deaths were recorded on Wednesday and 1,681 new cases and 41 Covid-19 related deaths were reported on Tuesday.
