With 1,768 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 615,984

Nepal on Thursday reported 1,768 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 615,984.
Similarly, 839 people tested positive in a total of 4,773 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Thursday, 3,240,8010 PCR and 128,159 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 7,711 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 39 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 8,597. The number of active cases stands at 61,725.
According to the ministry, 545,662 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 3,082 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 570 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 413 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 121 in Lalitpur and 36 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 340 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 100 in Province 2, 794 in Bagmati, 387 in Gandaki, 80 in Lumbini, 39 in Karnali and 31 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 42 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 16 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Thursday, 916 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 249—35 in Province 1, four in Province 2, 164 in Bagmati, 17 in Gandaki, 14 in Lumbini, seven in Karnali and eight in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Wednesday reported 2,014 new cases and 52 Covid-19 related deaths. Similarly, 1,681 new cases and 41 Covid-19 related deaths were recorded on Tuesday and 2,049 new cases and 53 Covid-19 related deaths were reported on Monday.
