With 1,681 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 612,202
The Health Ministry reports 41 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Tuesday reported 1,681 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 612,202.
Similarly, 1,064 people tested positive in a total of 5,841 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Tuesday, 3,231,612 PCR and 119,051 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 7,449 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 41 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 8,506. The number of active cases stands at 63,257.
According to the ministry, 540,439 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 4,187 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 545 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 455 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 74 in Lalitpur and 16 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 234 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 81 in Province 2, 835 in Bagmati, 257 in Gandaki, 145 in Lumbini, 92 in Karnali and 36 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 43 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 12 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Tuesday, 967 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 285—53 in Province 1, seven in Province 2; 175 in Bagmati, 19 in Gandaki, 15 in Lumbini, nine in Karnali and seven in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Monday reported 2,049 new cases and 53 Covid-19 related deaths. Similarly, 1,694 new cases and 46 Covid-19-related deaths were reported on Sunday and 2,382 new coronavirus cases and 61 deaths were reported on Saturday.
