With 1,694 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 608,472

Nepal on Sunday reported 1,694 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 608,472.
Similarly, 713 people tested positive in a total of 5,988 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Sunday, 3,214,725 PCR and 107,829 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 7,517 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 46 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 8,412. The number of active cases stands at 68,955.
According to the ministry, 531,105 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 3,994 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 653 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 483 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 112 in Lalitpur and 58 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 165 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 137 in Province 2, 900 in Bagmati, 302 in Gandaki, 122 in Lumbini and 44 in Sudurpaschim. No new Covid-19 cases were reported from Karnali on Sunday.
According to the data released by the ministry, 44 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 15 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Sunday, 1,100 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 347—50 in Province 1, 10 in Province 2; 233 in Bagmati, 20 each in Gandaki and Lumbini, eight in Karnali and six in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Saturday had reported 2,382 new coronavirus cases and 61 deaths. Similarly, 2,709 new Covid-19 cases and 67 deaths were reported on Friday and 2,874 new cases and 59 Covid-19 fatalities were recorded on Thursday.
