With 2,874 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 601,687
The Health Ministry reports 59 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Thursday reported 2,874 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 601,687.
Similarly, 875 people tested positive in a total of 4,568 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Thursday, 3,189,104 PCR and 91,368 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 9,901 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 59 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 8,238. The number of active cases stands at 77,858.
According to the ministry, 515,591 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 5,293 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 764 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 540 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 125 in Lalitpur and 99 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 658 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 170 in Province 2, 1,241 in Bagmati, 351 in Gandaki, 251 in Lumbini and 109 in Sudurpaschim and 119 in Karnali.
According to the data released by the ministry, 45 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 14 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Thursday, 1,261 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 382—55 in Province 1, 15 in Province 2; 247in Bagmati, 29 in Gandaki, 19 in Lumbini, eight in Karnali and nine in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Wednesday reported 3,449 new cases and 81 Covid-19-related deaths. Similarly, 3,870 new cases and 108 new cases and 108 Covid-19 fatalities were reported on Tuesday and 3,370 new cases and 92 fatalities were reported on Monday.
