National Covid-19 tally reaches 279,388 with 288 new infections

Nepal did not record any Covid-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said on Friday.
The country’s overall death toll due to the Covid-19 related complications stands at 3,038.
In the past 24 hours, the ministry said, the country recorded 288 new coronavirus infections, pushing the overall infection number to 279,388.
According to the ministry, 273,735 infected people have recovered from the disease so far, 127 of them in the past 24 hours.
The active case count stands at 2,615.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 129 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 117 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, nine in Lalitpur and three in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 141 new infections were recorded in Bagmati Province, 38 in Gandaki, 59 in Lumbini, 30 in Province 1, 14 in Karnali, 11 in Province 2 and five in Sudurpaschim.
As of Friday, 2,306,244 PCR tests have been carried out across the country. A total of 4,071 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
Nepal on Thursday recorded 332 new infections. Similarly, two Covid-19 fatalities and 298 new infections were confirmed on Wednesday and 260 new Covid-19 infections were reported on Tuesday.
