National Covid-19 tally reaches 277,640 with 179 new infections

Nepal did not record any Covid-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said Friday.
The country’s overall death toll due to the Covid-19 related complications stands at 3,031.
In the past 24 hours, the ministry said, the country recorded 179 new coronavirus infections, pushing the overall infection number to 277,640.
According to the ministry, 272,962 infected people have recovered from the disease so far, 111 of them in the past 24 hours.
The active case count stands at 1,647.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 94 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 78 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, eight each in Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 106 new infections were recorded in Bagmati Province, 33 in Gandaki, 12 in Sudurpaschim, 16 in Lumbini, two in Province 2, nine in Province 1 and one in Karnali.
As of Friday, 2,279,105 PCR tests have been carried out across the country. A total of 3,565 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
Nepal had reported 152 new Covid-19 infections on Thursday. Similarly, 162 new infections were recorded on Wednesday and three Covid-19 related fatalities and 167 new infections were recorded in the country on Tuesday.
