Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 2,054 with two more deaths; national tally reaches 272,557 with 127 new infections

Nepal on Friday reported two more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 2,054. The country also recorded 127 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 272,557 with 1,707 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 268,796 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 136 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 59 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 44 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 12 in Lalitpur and three in Bhaktapur.
As of Friday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 127,440. While Kathmandu has reported 501 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 163 and 115 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 1,005 individuals from Bagmati Province, 292 from Lumbini Province, 230 from Province 1, 220 from Province 2, 213 from Gandaki Province, 67 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 27 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Friday, 2,111,649 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 4,000 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 82 new infections were recorded in Bagmati Province, 16 in Gandaki Province, 13 in Lumbini Province, six each in Province 1 and Sudurpaschim Province, three in Province 2 and one in Karnali Province.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Ilam, Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Mustang, Rukum (West), Mugu and Achham districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
Until Friday, 62 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country, 14 others—11 in Bagmati and three in Lumbini—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported five Covid-19-related deaths and 81 new infections. Similarly, 134 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the country on Wednesday and two deaths and 160 new infections on Tuesday.
