Nepal’s Covid-19 caseload reaches 17,658 with 156 new infections

Nepal on Sunday reported 156 new Covid-19 cases, taking the national tally to 17,658.
“Out of 3,741 real-time polymerase chain reaction tests carried out at 27 labs across the country, samples from 156 individuals were positive for Covid-19,” said Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, during his daily press briefing.
Throat swabs of 32 individuals from Saptari, 25 from Sarlahi, 24 from Kailali, 10 each from Bardiya and Nawalparasi; seven from Parsa, six each from Kaski, Lamjung and Myagdi; five each from Banke and Dang; two each from Lalitpur, Rautahat, Syangja, Rupandehi, and Dadeldhura; and one each from Sunsari, Siraha, Bara, Kathmandu, Morang, Makwanpur, Baglung, Parbat, Pyuthan and Salyan districts tested positive for the virus.
According to the ministry, 58 people were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the number of total recovered cases to 11,695.
As many as 315,570 PCR tests have been carried out in the country so far.
Six districts—Bhojpur, Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, Manang, Mustang and Humla—don’t have any active cases, Gautam said.
Nepal, on Saturday had reported 57 new Covid-19 cases. The country reported 40th Covid-19 related death and 101 new cases on Friday whereas 167 new cases were confirmed on Thursday and 39th Covid-19 related death and 116 new cases on Wednesday. There were 116 cases reported on Tuesday, 144 new cases on Monday and 82 on Sunday. Three Covid-19 related deaths and 70 new cases were recorded on Saturday.
