Nepal’s Covid-19 tally reaches 16,649 with 118 new cases

Nepal confirmed 118 new cases in the last 24 hours as the national Covid-19 tally reached 16,649 on Friday.
“Samples of 28 individuals from Kathmandu, 13 from Lalitpur, 11 from Surkhet, eight each from Sarlahi and Tanahun, six from Gulmi, four each from Dhanusha, Mahottari and Palpa, two each from Baglung, Dailekh, Ilam, Kavrepalanchok, Nawalparasi, Panchthar, Rautahat and Siraha and one each from Bajura, Banke, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Dhading, Dolpa, Doti, Gorkha, Kailali, Makwanpur, Ramechhap, Rasuwa, Rupandehi, Salyan, Sindhuli and Sindhupalchok tested positive during tests performed at various labs across the country,” said Health Ministry spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam said during a regular briefing on Friday.
Gautam said six districts—Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Solukhumbu, Mustang, Manang and Humla—have zero cases.
The ministry said a total of 8,011 persons, 120 in the past 24 hours, have returned home after recovering from the disease and there are currently 8,603 active cases in the country.
There were 108 cases reported on Thursday and 255 new cases on Wednesday. The Health Ministry recorded 204 new cases on Tuesday and confirmed one death and 180 new cases on Monday. As many as 293 cases were detected on Sunday while two Covid-19 related deaths and 232 new infections were reported on Saturday.
Gautam said 4,806 PCR tests were carried out in the last 24 hours across the country while the total number of PCR tests so far stands at 275,951.
