Nepal’s Covid-19 tally reaches 16,423 with 255 new cases

Nepal confirmed 255 new cases in the last 24 hours as the national Covid-19 tally reached 16,423 on Wednesday.
“During tests performed at 25 labs across the country, swab samples of 36 individuals from Kailali, 33 from Rautahat, 22 from Achham, 16 from Kathmandu, 14 each from Kaski and Surkhet, 12 each from Doti and Kanchanpur, eight from Jhapa, seven each from Lalitpur and Rukum (West), five each from Chitwan, Dang, Palpa and Dailekh, four each from Morang, Saptari and Bajhang, three each from Sunsari, Sarlahi, Nawalparasi (East) and Gulmi, two each from Ilam, Siraha, Baitadi, Gorkha, Kavrepalanchok, Ramechhap, Banke, Mugu and Dadeldhura, and one each from Tehrathum, Bara, Darchula, Dhading, Dolakha, Lamjung, Parsa, Sindhupalchok, Myagdi, Pyuthan, Kalikot and Jajarkot came back positive for the virus,” said Health Ministry spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam.
The ministry said 253 individuals recovered in the past 24 hours. “So far, a total of 7,752 individuals, which is 47.2 percent of the total infected, have returned home after recovering,” said Dr Gautam.
The Health Ministry had reported 204 new cases on Tuesday and confirmed one death and 180 new cases on Monday. There were 293 new cases on Sunday while two more Covid-19 related deaths and 232 new cases were reported on Saturday. The country recorded one death and 740 cases, the highest in a single day, on Friday while one death and 473 new cases were reported on Thursday.
Gautam said 4,696 PCR tests were carried out in the last 24 hours across the country.
