Dengue cases rife in Gorkha

Cases of dengue, a mosquito-borne infectious disease, have risen markedly in Gorkha district.
According to the District Health Office, a total of 846 people infected with dengue with the commencement of the current fiscal year on July 16.
“As many as 683 infected people are from Gorkha Municipality alone. The number of dengue patients is around double than it was last year during the same period,” said Yam Prasad Sharma, chief at the District Health Office.
According to him, two dengue infected people died in the district this fiscal year.
Similarly, 416 cases of scrub typhus have been reported in Gorkha over the past two and a half months.
