One person died, and another got injured in a truck-bike collision in Gorkha Municipality-9, Dalbhanjyang along the Abukhaireni-Gorkha road section on Saturday.

The accident occurred when a Ga 1 Kha 5654 tipper truck traveling from Gorkha bazaar towards Abukhaireni collided head-on with a Ba 70 Pa 2871 motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. Both riders were injured.

According to Ramesh Kumar Shrestha of the District Police Office, Gorkha, 25-year-old Surendra Rai, a resident of Deumai Rural Municipality-2, Ilam, who was stationed at the Ripumardan Battalion in Gorkha, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday evening while undergoing treatment at Gorkha Hospital.

Similarly, Janam Rai, a resident of Khapang, Sankhuwasabha Municipality-3, was injured and has been referred to the Nepal Army Hospital in Kathmandu for further treatment after initial care at Gorkha Hospital. He sustained injuries to his right arm and shoulder.

Both Surendra and Janam held the rank of lance corporal at the Ripumardani Battalion in Gorkha.

Police are investigating for details, Shrestha said.
