Nepal women’s team off to winning start

Nepal registered a six-wicket victory over Hong Kong in their opening match of the Women’s Twenty20 Quadrangular Series at the Bauyemas Oval in Malaysia on Tuesday.
Inviting Hong Kong to bat first, Nepal bowled them out for 84 runs with five balls to spare after Sita Rana Magar claimed five wickets. In the run chase, Nepal made 87-4 in 15.5 overs after Samjhana Khadka scored a-run-a-ball 36, remaining unbeaten.
Nepal will play their second match against Kuwait on Wednesday.
Khadka slammed five hits to the fence. Opener Puja Mahato collected 16 runs off 18 balls while captain Rubina Chhetry scored 10 runs off 20 that included a boundary.
Earlier, Hong Kong captain Kary Chan scored 34 runs off 29 balls that included two hits to the boundary and a six. Captain Chhetry clean-bowled her. Dorothea Chan was the other player to contribute in double digits, scoring 16 runs off 33 balls, for Hong Kong. None of the other batters managed to reach a double digit score for Hong Kong.
Player-of-the-match Rana Magar was the pick of Nepali bowling, grabbing five wickets. She gave away 16 runs in her four-over spell. Indu Barma picked up two wickets.
In the opening match, hosts Malaysia registered an eight-wicket win over Kuwait.
