The book launch event saw a conversation between author Kharel and political scientist Hari Sharma.
“I have had the chance to witness and play part in some of the most important incidents in Nepal’s modern political history,” Kharel said. “I felt the need to share the truths that lie at the core of the incidents that I have experienced first-hand. And Aatmakatha is my medium to do just that.”
Kharel is the first person to hold the position of an IGP twice in history. “I have tried to explain why and how I was elected twice.
Through this book I have laid the truth bare for people to see so that there’s be no further interpretations,” Kharel said. Kharel is also a passionate footballer, and has captained the Nepal national team. The book delves into that side of Kharel’s life as well. Speaking at the event, former President Ram Baran Yadav said that the book would be useful for students and researchers seeking to learn about the important socio-political incidents through the eyes of a police chief.
The book is published by Nepalaya.
