The exhibit features mixed-media works from KC’s Shifting Values—Expectations vs Reality and Shrestha’s Sirani—The Headrest.
Comprising 12 works, artist KC in her series Shifting Values series explores how our cultural values have been renewed and sometimes impeded by the intrusion of modern technology and architecture.
The first half of KC’s work include paintings created that reflect her impressions from her tour to Mustang while the latter half explores the effects of modern technology on Kathmandu’s traditional heritage and architecture.
Speaking about her work, KC said, “Even in a land relatively less traversed, such as Mustang, the impact of modern technology is clearly visible, more so in Kathmandu. In these work, I have tried to present my impression on the good and bad side of such intrusion.”
Shrestha’s work, paintings and installations in black and white, titled Sirani—the Headrest, include human figures, mostly heads, and in some works, several of them, lying comfortably in the eponymous headrest. The expressions of the heads differ, however, perhaps highlighting the many emotions one goes through in a lifetime.
The joint exhibit will continue till October 24.
