Comedian Manoj Gajurel is now starring in a feature film. Gajurel will play a lead role in the film Sayakada Dus, which headed off to production this week in Kathmandu.

“I was looking for a proper film to debut in... Comedy is my forte for sure; but I was looking for a film that would go beyond comedy for comedy’s sake but would also carry in it some sense of responsibility towards the society. And in Sayakada Dus, I found both,” Gajurel said.

The film also features veteran comedian and actor Rajaram Poudel, who praised the debutant actor. “In Gajurel, the domestic film will find a ‘great’ actor,” Poudel remarked.

The film will be helmed by Ramsharan Pathak, who previously directed Ajhai Pani (2015) and Prem Geet 2 (2017). The film, according to Pathak, is a comedy. “The subject we are working on is directly attached to the workings of the society,” Pathak said. “The film will be structured around the effects and link between love and corruption.”

Sayakada Dus will also feature actor Amrit Dhungana (of the Sayad 2 fame), debutant Karuna Shrestha, Rabi Dangol, Rasmi Bhatta, Utsav Neupane, Soniya Rai and Manaswi Koirala, among others.

The film will also see Swoopna Suman provide background vocals, along with Trishala Gurung and Sandesh Pathak.
