A week-long photo exhibition, Nepal-Daily Life, Culture and Landscape—featuring works by three Nepali photographers, Chandra Shekhar Karki, Aishu Mathema and Deepak Tolange,  is currently ongoing in Witzenhausen, Germany.

The exhibition was has drawn government representatives, academicians, and international students including a good number of locals from Witzenhausen. Deepak Tolange, photographer and one of the curators of the exhibit, said that the exhibition worked at different levels. First, it provides a platform for Nepali photographers abroad to showcase their work. Second, the collection of photographs portrays the natural and cultural diversity of Nepal which might help attract tourists to the country.

Organisers said, 50 percent of the total fund collected from the sale of the photos and postcards will go to realise ‘Motivational Program,’ another exhibit, planned for 2018. The first ‘Motivational Program’ was organised in a brick factory in Bhaktapur on March 18, 2017. The programme had on display photos taken by children working in a brick factory. During the event, DUST, an ethnographic film made in the area, was also shown to the people. The event also donated masks, gloves and art materials to the children. The ‘Motivational Program’ is aimed to encourage children to continue their education.

The ongoing exhibition in Germany is taking place in the Lebens WERTstatt gallery supported by DITSL Witzenhausen and Lebens WERTE Witzenhausens. After the show in the gallery which will run for two weeks, the photos will be up for display at an another venue in Witzenhausen for three months.
