The August edition of the Paleti Concert will feature musician Aavaas and singer Meena Niraula on August 25 at Nepalaya’s ‘r’ sala. 

Niraula has been associated with Paleti for almost a decade now, performing alongside veterans such as Amber Gurung and Shanti Thatal. She has also lent her voice to songs by lyricists Ratna Shamsher Thapa, Kiran Kharel, Ram Man Trishit and Dinesh Adhikari. 

While, composer Aavaas is the coordinator of the monthly Paleti concert. Associated with it right from its inception, Aavaas has performed more than a dozen concerts along the way. 

“I came to Kathmandu from Manipur in India for music, and I consider myself fortunate enough to have Paleti as a platform to hone my skills,” said singer Niraula. “With Paleti, I got an opportunity to perform with the legends of Nepali music. Paleti is my home and my music school as well.” 

Composer Aavaas has selected a tracklist of around 16 songs, including songs by lyricists such as Bairagi Kaila, Manjul, Dinesh Adhikari, Shrawan Mukarung and himself. Aavaas informed that he has also composed some new songs to suit Meena’s voice for this Paleti. 

The Paleti series is a micro-musical concert series held every last Friday of the Gregorian calendar at nepalaya’s ‘r’ sala in Kalikasthan.
