The book was unveiled, jointly by professor Abhi Subedi, novelist Nayan Raj Pandey and Yashoda Timilsina, from National Information Council, amid a function held at Shilpee Theatre in Battisputali on Monday.
The book comprises a total of eight short stories.
Speaking at the event, Subedi said that the book changes the course of traditional Nepali short story writing. “The book showcases Thapa’s wide-ranging scholarship. By maintaining a fine balance between incidents, time and space, Katputala takes Nepali short fiction to a new height.”
Meanwhile, author Pandey, speaking at the event, said that the stories give different taste to different readers. “Readers these days prefer realism over experiments. The book breaks the traditional modes of storytelling. The stories are long but make for a satisfying read,” Pandey said.
Katputala is published by Akshyar Creations Nepal.
