Monsoon, a printmaking exhibit, kicks off
A printmaking exhibition, which features works by 13 artists, has kicked off at Siddhartha Art Gallery, in the Capital. The exhibit was inaugurated by senior artist Birendra Pratap Singh amid a ceremony this week.
Speaking at the opening, artist Singh said, “Nepali printmaking, an upcoming genre of art, has made considerable progress of late. The works featured, which are very appealing, can be taken as the brenchmark of latest development in the genre.”
Sangeeta Thapa, director of the Gallery, said that, given the recent resurgence of the printmaking genre, and with ample attention from the audience, printmaking today has emerged as a promising genre in Nepali fine arts.
The exhibit, titled Monsoon, also features works by Korean artist Hyun Ju Kim. Along with Kim, the exhibit has on display works by Nepali artists such as Saurganga Darshandhari, Prithvi Shrestha, Subash Tamang, Ritu Thapa and Aman Maharjan, among others.
The exhibit will run for a week.
