The video accompanying the song, Gharko Kura, was released as part of Nepathya’s ongoing silver jubilee celebrations. Gharko Kura was anthologised in Nepathya’s sixth studio album, Ghatana (2005).
The music video, which was released via Youtube on Wednesday, was filmed with an Iphone5 during Nepathya’s US tour in 2016.
Speaking about the song, Nepathya frontman Amrit Gurung said that he found the concert-goers were indifferent to a social-song as this one. “People were more interested in a dancing number during the concert.
We come across such situations frequently during our concerts abroad. But, entertain we must. We are obliged to entertain our audience no matter what,” Gurung said.
The video features Gurung walking and wandering about the streets, reminiscing about his homeland through photos.
Nepal was reeling under the Maoist insurgency during the time Ghatana was released and some analysts were apt to term the album “Musical War Archive of Nepal’s Conflict.” (PR)
