Nepali artists at Goa art fest
An art fest, titled Serendipity Art Festival, kicked off in Goa on December 13 and has on display the work of three Nepali artists: Kaviraj Lama, Kishor Kayastha and Mekh Bahadur Limbu.An art fest, titled Serendipity Art Festival, kicked off in Goa on December 13 and has on display the work of three Nepali artists: Kaviraj Lama, Kishor Kayastha and Mekh Bahadur Limbu. The artists are part of the Sub-continental art selection at the fest.
The exhibit has on display artist Lama’s work revolving around Nepali society, culture and politics, under the title Dikka Lagne Aawaj. The series contains portraits of prominent political leaders of the country and along with them are their voiceovers, attached to a sensor. Aritst Lama says the artwork will help impart Nepal’s public sentiments to a wider audience, and hence promote Nepali arts internationally.
Another Nepali artist featured at the fest, Kishore Kayastha, has on view an artistic documentary, Shifting the Valley, which documents and compares Kathmandu Valley before and after the quakes. The documentary traces the Valley’s antiquities and their devastation due to the quakes. About his work, artist Kayastha says, “Through the documentary I have only tried to showcase the beauty of Nepali culture and architecture.”
Meanwhile, Artist Mekh Bahadur Limbu’s work evokes Nepal’s current economic status and its impact on Nepali public.
The fest features works by artists from SAARC nations and will continue till December 22.
