The Madan Pursaskar Guthi has presented this year’s Madan Puraskar and Jagadamba Shree Puraskar at an event held in Patan on Sunday, to Ramlal Joshi and Leel Bahadur Kshetri, respectively.

Chairperson of the Guthi Kamal Mani Dixit handed out a cash purse of Rs 200,000 and certificates each to the winners.

Madan Puraskar, Nepal’s highest literary honour, was presented to Joshi for his anthology of stories, Aina. While the Jagadamba Shree Puraskar was presented to Kshetri for six decades of service to Nepali literature.

The Madan Puraskar has been presented annually since 1956. Its former recipients include Parijat, Satya Mohan Joshi, Saru Bhakta, and Narayan Wagle, among others.

The event also saw the launch of Kamal Mani Dixit’s book Gayekaharu.
