Kathmandu

The highly-anticipated Nepali TV show, Singha Durbar, is set to telecast on Nepal Television starting today. The TV show will feature Gauri Malla in the lead role as the first woman Prime Minister of Nepal.

The show, directed by Chhiring Ritar Sherpa and produced by Search for Common Grounds, will air for 13 episodes. Although the show has come into limelight due the fact that the lead role is played by a female actress, the show’s focus is not limited only to empowerment.

The show touches upon several issues plaguing Nepal ranging from climate change to public health

services. “The show will go on to build a faith in female leadership and to reassure the public that female leadership can get the job done as any other male leadership,” says Aayush Joshi, communication officer at Search for Common Grounds.

The show will air on Nepal Television on Sundays at 8:45 pm.
