The first independent feature film shot almost entirely in Nepal by a foreign director and crew, Highway to Dhampus, is set to release in Nepal on September 25.
The first independent feature film shot almost entirely in Nepal by a foreign director and crew, Highway to Dhampus, is set to release in Nepal on September 25.
The film was acclaimed in film festivals all over the world and bagged several awards, including the Best Feature Film and Best Lead Actress at the Madrid International Film Festival.
The movie deals with the cultural and geographical essence of Nepal, and is a debut for Nepali actors Raj Ballav Koirala, Suesha Rana, and Desh Bhakta Khanal to an international audience. They will be seen playing major roles besides Hollywood actors Rachel Hurd-Wood and Gunner Wright.
The plot of the movie revolves around a spoiled British heiress (Rachel Hurd-Wood) and her attempts to change herself. Amidst both hope and tragedy, the story explores the difficult yet promising path people take in order to live better.
Produced under the banner of Fiftyfilms, Highway to Dhampus has been written and directed by Rick McFarland.
According to the producers, 40 percent of the profits from the screening of the film in Nepal will be contributed to the victims of the quakes. Prior to this, funds collected during different charity shows held in countries like the UK, US and Australia were also given to quake victims.
