The show will encompass works by artists from the Royal Botanic Garden (RBGE), Edinburgh, and Neera Joshi from Nepal. The participating RBGE artists are Jacqui Pestell, Isik Guner, Sharon Tingey, Lyn Campbell, Claire Banks and Sarah Roberts.
Artists will be presenting prints of their botanical artworks alongside information regarding the history of botanical art and its contemporary situation. The show aims to provide knowledge regarding the different styles of the genre from around the world and will also help viewers make comparisons and engage in discussions regarding historical and contemporary approaches. According to the organisers, the primary aim of the exhibition is to introduce this genre of art to the viewers.
Neera Joshi, who runs the gallery, is a painter popularly known for her works that depict detailed representations of parts of flowers and plants. She has a master’s degree in Botany and most of her artwork is focused around the topic.
The upcoming exhibition is a part of the Britain-Nepal 2016 celebrations, scheduled to be held sometime next year.
