Utsav screened at 22nd edition of Cinemandu
The 22nd edition of Cinemandu saw the screening of the Nepali feature film Utsav. Cinemandu is a monthly programme jointly organised by the Embassy of India and BP Koirala India-Nepal Found
The film, written and directed by Kumar Bhattarai, deals with the problems faced by today’s youth, whose aspirations stand at odds with the social conventions and family values. Bhattari, who is also the scriptwriter of the critically acclaimed Nepali films Daasdhunga and Uma, started his journey as a director with this movie.
Along with director Bhattarai, actors Sauguat Malla and Sanjog Koirala also joined the screening of the film. They also interacted with the audience after the screening was over.
During the interaction, Bhattarai said that after the movie was released, he wanted the audiences to not just watch the movie in the theatre but also provide him with feedback to plug the loopholes. He credited his subsequent improvement to the comments he received from his friends, seniors and the audience.
Secretary of BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation, Abhay Kumar, presented a token of appreciation to the cast and crew and said, “Cinemandu is a unique platform where we not only screen acclaimed Nepali films but also provide an opportunity for the audience to directly interact with Nepali artists and filmmakers.”
