The GESS Education Awards for 2023 in the ‘Ambassador for the Environment’ category has been given to BlinkNow Foundation. The announcement was made at a gala during the Global Educational Supplies and Solutions (GESS) conference and exhibition in Dubai on October 31.

This recognition highlights the efforts of BlinkNow’s Kopila Valley programmes, which aim to foster environmental awareness and encourage sustainable lifestyles within the community of Surkhet.

The eco-friendly campus and sustainability curriculum of Kopila Valley School were particularly lauded by the award judges. They expressed their admiration, stating, “We are impressed that this initiative not only established an entirely green and sustainable campus but also integrated sustainability into the school’s curriculum to nurture future leaders.” Key achievements emphasised include a significant reduction in the school’s carbon footprint, the inclusion of environmental studies to equip students for future careers, and the promotion of conservation and environmental sustainability practices extending to staff, families and the broader community.

Having collaborated with the Surkhet community since 2007, BlinkNow has been instrumental in establishing a school, children’s home, women’s training centre, health and wellness programme, a haven for at-risk girls and a career readiness initiative.

The GESS Awards are a celebration of success in the education sector, honouring outstanding educational institutions and dedicated educators.
