Celebrate International Human Rights Day with Human Rights Art Festival today
The festival will embrace colours, creation, and creativity to combat human rights violations.Post Report
On the occasion of International Human Rights Day (December 10), Freedom Studio is organising Human Rights Art Festival. This is the 75th anniversary of the universal declaration of human rights, and the theme this year is ‘Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All’.
In collaboration with the Center for Social Change and St. Xavier’s College, Maitighar, Freedom Studio has brought the event to engage creative youngsters in understanding the value of human rights in today’s context and exploring ways to strengthen human rights worldwide. The festival will embrace colours, creation, and creativity to combat human rights violations. The art festival will have live painting, face painting, installation art, musical performances, drama, poems, and storytelling. The event is free and open to all.
“We believe that creativity shouldn’t be limited to monetary payments. We are hoping to see many faces celebrating the day with us”, says Santosh Rai, a faculty member at St. Xavier’s College and one of the organisers.
The festival will also feature social business stalls that reflect art and culture. Artivism Workshop is another highlight of the event and is aimed to teach how art and activism can be taken side by side with the knowledge of history, art, and technology.
Participants of the festival will also be given a token of love, a gesture to appreciate the effort and concern they have shown towards human rights. During the event, the top five artists will be given prizes based on the votes from visitors and participants.
Notable activists like Pukar Bam, Milan Rai, Gopal Siwakoti, and Pratima Gurung will also attend the festival.
