At least 17 people died in landslides at various places in Achham on Friday. As of 1 pm on Saturday, six people were missing.

According to Acting Chief District Officer of Achham Dipesh Rijal, four bodies have been recovered from the landslide site in Turmakhand Rural Municipality, while five people are still missing.

Likewise, one person died in a landslide in Dhungachalna of Dhakari Rural Municipality. Rijal informed that one person is still missing and five others have been injured in the natural disaster.

According to Rijal, five people died following a landslide in Dungala of Kamalbazar Municipality and one person was injured.

Similarly, seven people died in the landslide that occurred in Hatibanjha of Kamalbazar Municipality leaving seven others injured.

Due to continuous rain over three days, electricity and road services have been disrupted in Achham and people's lives severely impacted.

The injured are being rescued by helicopter for treatment.
