Buddha Jayanti celebrated at Swayambhunath
Buddha’s relic displayed for public viewing at Anandakuti Vihar.
Post Report
Devotees and the general public marked Buddha Jayanti at Swayambhunath, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in Kathmandu from early Monday morning.
Special prayers and rituals were performed at the Buddha temple inside the main stupa complex to commemorate Gautam Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and death anniversary.

Government officials, Buddhist monks, religious leaders, members of the diplomatic community, and guests from various countries are scheduled to attend the events at Swayambhunath.

At Anandakuti Vihar, located within the Swayambhunath premises, the sacred relic of Buddha was displayed for public viewing and worship. This relic is displayed for the public only once a year, on Buddha Jayanti.

Various celebrations are also taking place across the country, including at Buddha’s birthplace in Lumbini. Prayers and programmes are held at Buddhist stupas, viharas, and monasteries.
