Kathmandu shrouded in thick haze
Nepal’s capital city records worst air quality in the world.
Post Report
A thick layer of haze blanketed Kathmandu on Tuesday, significantly reducing visibility across the city. Many buildings, including the iconic Dharahara, stood obscured by smog, while the surrounding hills and mountains were shrouded in dense pollution.
According to IQAir, the Nepali capital recorded the worst air quality in the world on Tuesday, highlighting worsening environmental conditions. Residents struggled with poor visibility and respiratory discomfort as pollution levels spiked.
On Wednesday morning, Kathmandu was ranked the second most polluted city in the world, following New Delhi.
The deteriorating air quality has raised concerns over health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups. Experts have urged immediate action to curb pollution, warning of long-term consequences if effective measures are not implemented.
