With a growing travel culture among Nepalis, Tilicho Lake in Manang has become a top destination, attracting an overwhelming number of domestic tourists. Located at 4,919 metres above sea level, the lake saw nearly 90 percent of its recent holiday visitors from within the county.
Pema Lama, a hotelier at Tilicho Base Camp, said the number of Nepali visitors surged significantly due to better weather and improved access. Hotels at Khangsar and Tilicho Base Camp have expanded to accommodate the increasing crowds.
Despite the altitude’s challenges, the lake’s clear, serene beauty and sweeping Himalayan views make the effort worthwhile. As domestic tourism flourishes, Tilicho Lake remains a major attraction, especially during holidays.
