On Monday, Hindu devotees thronged various shrines nationwide to celebrate Kushe Aunsi. According to the Nepali calendar, this day, also known as Gokarne Aunsi, is observed on Bhadra Krishna Aunsi as per the lunar calendar.
During the festival, also known as ‘Buwa Ko Mukh Herne Din,’ or Father’s Day, people show their appreciation for their fathers with special gifts. For those whose fathers have passed away, it is customary to gather at temples to perform rites such as tarpan and pindadan, rituals performed to pay homage to deceased ancestors and seek their blessings.
