Devotees are celebrating ‘Krishna Janmashtami,’ the annual Hindu festival commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna, on Monday.
As per Hindu scriptures, Lord Krishna was born at midnight on Bhadrakrishna Ashtami during the Dwapara Yuga.
On this day, devotees flock to Krishna temples, fasting and staying up all night in anticipation of his birth. Hindus believe that Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born to protect humanity from injustice, tyranny, and evil forces.
In Kathmandu, various religious organisations mark the occasion with processions featuring tableaus of Lord Krishna.
Here are some of the Photos of the celebration in Patan and Basantapur captured by Post’s photojournalist Hemanta Shrestha.
