Microfinance borrowers protest in Kathmandu

Borrowers of microfinance institutions stage a protest in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
The debtors, who walked to Kathmandu from various districts, had planned to picket the Baluwatar-based Nepal Rastra Bank after a march from Sifal but were stopped at Bhatbhateni citing a no-go area.
Their demands include scrapping microfinances, writing off their loans and removing loan defaulters from the black list and freeing up their collaterals.
