Youths demonstrate against Sandeep Lamichhane’s inclusion in national team

Youths on Saturday staged a protest at Maitighar Mandala in the Capital denouncing the decision of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) to include rape-accused cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane in the national team camp.
They demonstrated carrying placards with messages including ‘Are we safe’, ‘Rape-accused can’t be in my national team’ and ‘Sandeep and Chatur 420 not out’ among others.
The decision of the cricket governing body to include Lamichhane in the national team after lifting his suspension has come down heavily on social media. Social media users have criticized Lamichhane’s inclusion in the camp, calling to boycott CAN.
CAN not only lifted the suspension imposed on the 22-year-old cricketer through its executive committee meeting on Tuesday but also included him in the 20-member national team camp announced on Thursday.
Lamichhane, accused of raping a minor on August 21 last year, is currently out on bail.
