Sinha Jatra marked with fanfareThe 300-year-old festival is celebrated for three days every year from Kartik Shukla Purnima.
People from the Newa community on Friday marked Sinha Jatra with much fanfare. Along with the elderly, a large number of youths also joined to celebrate the festival at Chabahil in Kathmandu.
The festival is also known as Chandravinayak Jatra.
The 300-year-old festival is celebrated for three days every year from Kartik Shukla Purnima. It is believed that by worshipping Lords Bhairav and Ganesh during the festival one can get rid of skin diseases.
The jatra, which officially started last Wednesday with the worship of Bhairav and Ganesh, will conclude after Sindoor Jatra is celebrated on Saturday.
