Police check vehicles plying after 8pm
Valley authorities have decided to put a nighttime ban on vehicles ‘to check the coronavirus spread’.Post Report
Security personnel on Thursday night fanned out around the city to implement the decision of the administrators of Kathmandu Valley to ban public and private vehicles, including two-wheelers, after 8pm.
The decision came into effect from Thursday night. On the first day, police stopped vehicles plying after 8pm and let them go after asking them to abide by the decision.
Chief district officers of the Valley–Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur–on Tuesday had decided to impose a ban on private and public vehicles after 8pm, citing the rise in the number of coronavirus cases. The decision, however, has met with criticism, with many saying the risk of the coronavirus spreading is rather high during daytime rather than at night.
However, authorities went ahead with their decision to put a ban on vehicles after 8pm.
