Locals and businessmen from Chabahil in Kathmandu on Monday protested against the slow paced work being done by Melamchi Drinking Water Project staffers that has led to unbearable dusty conditions in the area.
The agitators obstructed the Chabahil-Mitrapark road section with water pipes to draw the attention of the concerned authorities.
The protesters said that they had to resort to such measures as the dusty conditions became unbearable and was affecting their health and businesses.
The protest began at around 11:30 am and continued for over an hour until the police came and dispersed the agitating crowd. As a result of the protest traffic in the area was thrown out of gear.
A huge number of police personnel were deployed in the area. Few minor clashes also took place during the protest as the security personnel tried to remove the waterpipes from the road.
The situation has normalised now and vehicles are plying along the road section.
