Kathmandu
Police arrested four individuals from Kathmandu’s Kalopul area for their alleged involvement in illegal foreign currency transfer operations, known as hundi. Two of the arrested are Indian nationals.
The arrested include Bikram Jaiswal and Munna Jaiswal of Bihar. Likewise, Om Prakash Jaiswal and Manmohan Kumar Singh of Bara district are also in the police net. Superintendent of Police Apilraj Bohara, spokesperson for Kathmandu Police Range, said the arrests followed a tip-off about illegal hundi operations.
Authorities recovered Rs1.5 million in cash and five mobile phones during the raid.
The investigation revealed that the suspects had conducted cryptocurrency transactions worth Rs60 million. Further investigation is ongoing.
