At a press conference organised on Friday, Hospital’s Executive Director Dr Pukar Chandra Shrestha said that the centre had successfully transplanted kidneys on 404 patients since the service began in January 2013.
The inflow of patients at the hospital has surged with the resumption of additional medical services such as Urology, gastro surgery, Cardio therapy and surgery and stone surgery besides kidney transplant, said Prof Dr Rakesh Barma. However, the patients are compelled to wait for transplant service for long due to limited building space and bed. Currently, more than 400 patients are waiting their turns for kidney transplant and many more for dialysis, Dr Shrestha said. (RSS)
